CIA: Terrorists to Nuke U.S. Cities
A new report by retired longtime intelligence officer Rolf Mowatt-Larssen, who served as chief of the CIA's Weapons of Mass Destruction Department, accuses the U.S. government of seriously misreading al-Qaida's operational objectives. "Al-Qaida's reasoning," according to Mowatt-Larssen's new report from Harvard's Kennedy School, "runs counter to analytic convention that equates the ease of acquisition of chemical, biological or radiological weapons with an increasing likelihood of terrorist use – i.e., a terrorist attack employing crude weapons is therefore more likely than an attack using a nuclear or large scale biological weapon." "In fact, it is the opposite" of that conventional wisdom, according to the analysis, entitled "Al-Qaida Weapons of Mass Destruction Threat: Hype or Reality." Al-Qaida's motivations suggest "the greatest threat is posed by the most effective and simple means of mass destruction, whether these means consist of nuclear, biological, or other forms of asymmetric weapons." That makes all the scarier the scolding that came this week from the congressionally authorized Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation. That panel gave the Obama administration an F grade for its performance in preparing the U.S. homeland for a terrorist attack that utilized biological warfare. – Newsmax
Dominant Social Theme: Batten down the hatches.
Free-Market Analysis: We follow up yesterday's somewhat controversial column "Lieutenant Colonel Says US Coup Feasible" with this item from Newsmax (and perhaps elsewhere as well) which is actually entitled, "Former WMD Chief: Al-Qaida Awaiting Nukes." We focus on analyzing this story because it is yet another variant in our opinion of the authoritarian meme that has continually retained popularity with the US military, America's 16 separate spy agencies and, for some reason, many in the alternative media.
Yesterday we discussed the potential for martial law in the West and especially in America, and pointed out the Internet's never-ending fascination with this potential state of affairs, especially in America. But we then suggested that a gradualist strong-man model followed by a Hitler or Mussolini was perhaps more likely than the naked declaration of martial law by an Obama presidency (or any other) for the foreseeable future (or near future anyway).
If you missed yesterday's coverage of this issue, click here to read now.
We pointed out that, especially in America, the size of the country, the lack of programs to control gun ownership (despite every effort) and the basic culture of the republic, which still abides, would spell no end of trouble for a political class that decided to solve its problems with a brutal military solution. This is NOT to say it could not happen – anything can happen – but an abrupt attempt at a military takeover, especially of America, would more likely result in an endless guerilla-style insurrection than a docile and pacified nation.
The "martial law" meme, we suggested, was (at least potentially and in-part) a power-elite promotion designed to frighten people, especially those with libertarian leanings, and make them feel hopeless and helpless. The promotion itself (if that is what it is), is being cleverly combined with the limnings of an increasingly authoritarian state that includes an ever-more militarized police force and "cooperation" between federal, state and local policing authorities – as if such totalitarian efficiencies are actually a net positive for civil society (they aren't).
Britain of course is far down this road, but the US is hurrying down it, too. We would suggest that the unseemly haste we observe on the way to "endless policing for endless security" is aided and abetted by a military and intelligence community that is happy to reinforce every social fear available. Not only that, but we have a suspicion that as aggressively as the mainstream press echoes these themes, the alternative Internet press is unfortunately no slouch itself.
Yes, fear is rife on the Internet, even or especially among the alternative press which specializes in anti-state declarations – and we do have our suspicions as to why this should be. Malevolent Illuminati signs, implacable secret societies and a general presumption that the power elite is inviolable are part of the language of a certain part of the ‘Net. The result? A kind of meme that reinforces the impossibility of successfully confronting or challenging the current, shadowy power structure that stands behind the visible organs of the state.
Within this context, we find the statements of former CIA agent Rolf Mowatt-Larssen (as so generously reported by Newsmax) perfectly comprehensible and even predictable. Whatever else it may be, it is certainly an attempt to remind American citizens that they must live in terror forever, never knowing when or whether their cities are about to be blown into near nothingness along with their families. And what is indisputable, we believe, is that within this terror-context, Americans (and Western citizens in general) are being driven toward surrendering more and more freedom and privacy.
In the 20th century, America engaged in an almost endless cycle of "wars against communism" to make sure that the "dominoes didn't fall." The idea was that a loss in Korea, Vietnam, etc., would ensure soon afterwards that courageous nations would be fighting such wars on its own soil. In fact, America "lost" the Vietnam war, yet the Vietnamese for some reason never followed retreating troops to America. Al Qaeda, American citizens are told, are different from the Vietnamese. If Al Qaeda is not defeated overseas, or even if it is, the remnants, like the head of a snake, will wiggle across the Atlantic to sink its fangs into the soft underbelly of a hapless American municipality.
It so happens, being an exceptionally paranoid bunch, your editors researched the whole issue of nuclear and biological warfare after 9/11, and again several years later. What we discovered is that any effort to use biological weapons from the standpoint of asymmetric warfare (terror attacks) is incredibly difficult. Biological weapons are very hard to control and unreliable as well.
As far as mini-nukes go, when we looked into the matter we were surprised to find that the technology does not yet exist, so far as we know, to stuff a nuclear weapon in one's pocket with the idea of taking a stroll into the center of town. You could, indeed, we suppose, create a mini-nuke (or find one of the ones that Russia is endlessly said to have mislaid) but these are not small weapons after all. They are not easy to make, even today, and they are heavy.
And then there is this ... Warfare, as we have pointed out before, is the job of the state. Even terrorist movements need funding and support from governmental entities – and thus any government providing a platform for a mega-terror event would be risking everything it had. America went into both Iraq and Afghanistan on flimsy pretexts after 9/11. Imagine what she would do to a country that abetted a significant and successful, major attack on a US municipality.
Whether or not you believe in the entire paraphernalia of the war on terror, it seems indisputable to us that for nearly a decade external threats have been used to erode Western civil liberties. To live in America – and certainly Britain – today is to live in a society at war with a shadowy enemy that can never be defined and never be entirely stopped. The terror is endless as are the increasingly Draconian remedies.
In the larger scheme of things – even excluding the way various war-on-terror signifiers seem to be developed – the conclusion that war on terror is in a sense an elite promotion seems hard to avoid. It has the signifiers of a promotion in that it rolls forward regardless of evidence and opposition. Its rationales have in some sense been proven false, but that does not seem to matter. Its necessity is not clear to many but it progresses nonetheless. It has the same imperviousness as other power elite promotions, including most famously global warming.
Conclusion: We bring up global warming because to date it provides the most successful evidence we think we have that the Internet itself is proving a formidable foe when it comes to debunking dominant social themes. In the case of global warming – as in the case of central banking (also a dominant social theme) the elite has seemingly gone into crisis mode, attempting damage control. We would argue that the elderly men (they are apt to be men) running these promotions are living in the 20th century when the power elite controlled all the elements necessary to develop a successful social meme. If a dominant social theme was somehow questioned, a strategy would be developed to salvage it. But today it's different. Thanks to the Internet, what is happening is a process. There are perhaps no crises to react to anymore – only the potential for a long, slow discrediting of the themes the elite worked so hard to erect in the past 100 years.

Two recent articles regarding the use of mini-nukes were examined very briefly.

Was WTC Demolished by Mini Nukes?
Interesting how what has been described by Bill Deagle MD and Jeff Rense as the best presentation/comprehension of information on the WTC on the web is NEVER ADDRESSED. Nope, seems they only want to deal with 'others' articles, all of which somehow seem to have easily seen, ludicrous, easily disproven Bogus Science – a ready made poison pill to discredit micro nukes.
Virtually all of the WTC residue has been accounted for in my articles and it is classic, textbook, nuclear reaction residue. In over 2 years, only one reference has been scientifically refuted – Thermite and that was by me.

This .018 kiloton micro nuke video shows that a .018 kiloton micro nuke could easily have been basically contained with the WTCs.
The data presented is an above ground detonation. Its crude design would have been unfocused and would have been no where near as clean as a 3rd (neutron) or fourth generation nuke. Based on this referenced proven data, the size of an underground, focused, Minimum Residual Radiation –

Almost all the "knowledgeable" people I know, seem to accept that Al Queda is just another CIA terrorist operation. Why? To keep the US stressed. Thats how you control a people. As long as there are "terrorists" out there then we need anti-terrorist spending by the jillions.
Thats how the Military/Industrial complex works. Arabs are not nasty people. They have been demonized to create ... terrorists. It suited George's mob, and it continues to keep Obama in power.

The condescending words that he READ were like a out of touch father scolding his children for asking dumb questions. This guy insulted the supreme court in front of the world, attacked the leaders of business and is punishing the successful and rewarding mediocrity. Sound alarming like a mustached little man we once new.
The people are angry and upset. The Goldman Sach's club is running the country and as proven time and again the peoples best interests are not priority. The people already fear the government and trust of politicians always is dangerous. A military take over is not as out there as it sounds. People in America should prepared for this, its a constitutional right and the founding fathers new that a government out of control was a possibility.
America has turned into a democracy and this is as dangerous as despot.Obama was elected by people not even aware of his politics they blindly follow and this is dangerous. Mass rule is the lowest COMMON denominator, we are witnessing that in action.. Americans are losing freedoms and they vote to lose them, When Americans wake up and realize its to late, thats when the military will come in.Everything is possible at this point.

No, sir, it is not our responsibility to explain what happened on 9/11. Let the "authorities" do their jobs. There are certainly enough of them.
The FBI, in particular, has re-engineered its story two or three times about cell phone calls from planes - since in 2001 it was nearly impossible to make cell calls from planes. But the new explanations seem to be troubled as well, as the planes in questions either did not have plane phones or the calls were explicitly labeled as cell phone calls, even though it is apparently physically impossible for them to have been made.
There are questions about purported explosive residue recently found on site. There are questions about the massive multiple explosions going off at the site before the collapse (see Youtube). There are questions about why steel from the site was apparently shipped to points abroad so hastily - when one should never dismantle a crime scene, certainly not of this magnitude.
There are serious questions about the reality about Al Qaeda and about Bin Laden himself. (ie: Where is the great multi-tiered cave he was said to operate out of - why was it never found?) Why did lead litigator of the 9/11 Commission write a book recently accusing the administration and the intelligence community of lying compulsively to the Commission? Why did the Commission seriously considering filing criminal charges against those testifying?
Where are the tapes confiscated from businesses around the Pentagon from the FBI after the explosion at the Pentagon and why haven't they been reviewed or returned? Why did President Bush claim so definitively that he had seen the first World Trade Center attack on TV when only the second attack was filmed? Why are there so many questions about the trajectory and wreckage of the plane that hit the Pentagon? Why did Don Rumsfeld apparently abandon his Pentagon office so quickly - and irresponsibly - to physically help clean up the site, which likely should not have been cleaned up in any case.
We could go on and on - and many have - citing what in our opinion are legitimate questions raised about this matter. In the era of the Internet all this information and more is available.
No, the questions will not subside. We have noticed a swelling crescendo of indignation recently over all that is evident, obvious and remains unanswered. We have pointed out many times that the Era of the Internet is a process. There are no crises for the power elite to overcome anymore. There is no damage control to be had regarding their promotions, only the slow, swelling tide of disbelief. The horror of 9/11 and the inadequate official explanations will attract more and more attention in the coming years not less, in our opinion.

This problem is magnified in the voting booth by large numbers of paranoid, quavering, women voters who view their rulers as surrogate husbands. The Stockholm syndrome rules America. When a chickenhawk talker like Rush Limbaugh symbolizes what is good about America it becomes apparent how depraved American society has become.
How I wish we were the land of the free and home of the brave, instead of the land of debt and home of the neocon.

William Lind is a specialist in the study of war, and he calls the present al-Qaeda phenomenon an example of 4th generation war - asymmetrical warfare waged by a non-state entity against an opposing state entity.
His criticism of the so-called war on terror is that you cannot fight the battle against a non-state adversary using 2nd generation war tactics, such as invading another country in a full frontal assault with the armamentarium and manpower only a state (and a compliant central banking establishment) can marshal.
Every time one of our high tech drones kills a terrorist in a wedding party we lose the moral high ground. Eventually, the moral high ground is ground down to an ant hill. (Israel is now experiencing this exact scenario.)
If we keep invading one Muslim country after another in pursuit of our errant creation, al-Qaeda, we will eventually usher in the mushroom cloud scenario. Our leaders, it seems, are hopelessly trapped in 2nd generation war thinking.
It is not the first time in history that the best and the brightest have demonstrated the least creativity. My response to a terrorist attack such as 9/11? Encourage the American people to contribute to Operation Smile, which sends surgeons around the world to repair cleft palates.
I know that sounds grossly naive to the generals and policy makers of the world, but looking at the results of their Realpolitik thinking and the continuing centralization of political and financial power with its steady erosion of the rights of the individual, I have to admit I prefer my naivete. We harness all our funny money to the engine of war and wonder why people want to attack us.
Reply from The Daily Bell
Acudoc, we like your cleft-palate idea. But we differ with Mr. Lind on some parts of his otherwise admirable analysis. The problem is the definition of terrorism itself. Absent state sponsorship, there is no such thing "terrorism" in our view, or nothing of consequence.
All war is ultimately driven by the state, or the quasi-state for only the state has the necessary resources. If one is doing nothing but blowing things up for a living, one would soon starve. Nothing of consequence is being created unless one wishes to eat ashes. And criminal enterprises - which make money occasionally - are set up quite different from supposed terrorist enterprises.
The US, in the Middle East, is at war with a collection of state and quasi-state entities - and it is a war that has been deliberately sought for specific reasons (no matter how regrettable they may seem to the elite today).
In our humble opinion, there is no more an amorphous band of stateless Jihadists rattling round the Middle East than there is a super-thin, super-tall Bin Laden operating in a mile-square, high-tech cave bunker somewhere in the Afghan mountains. These are Hollywood fantasies to be presented to the economically illiterate in lieu of the truth.

The Mysterious Craters:A thorough examination the debris of the World Trade Center (WTC) buildings reveals further evidence of massive power and heat - a thermonuclear blast. WTC 6 was 8 stories high. The total height of its central debris of the crater was about 30 to 50 feet below sea level and about 120 feet wide. Eight stories of building collapses and leaves a hole at least 30 feet deep.
I think you are correct when you suggest a traditional brutal dictatorship would not work. However there is no need for that. Americans prefer to lose liberty in exchange for security. Already the Administration has begun laying the groundwork for NORTHCOM to operate inside the Heimat.
According to American law, now, American citizens may be killed overseas if they are thought to be a threat to the State. In a certain sense we already are in the Military Dictatorship, it simply is friendly fascism.

The link didn't work. Anyway the BIS is just one more instrumentality in a chain of central banking facilities set up by the power elite to create a seamless, international fiat-money system.
All these elaborate international institutions amount to the same thing - they are ways of initiating, maintaining and expanding the singular power of private-money printing. They are ways of ensuring control stays in the hands of a tiny group of families and individuals that has stood, generationally behind the scenes milking the Western world.

Terrorists have bought into the fiction that western government and intelligence agency actions are controlled by "consent of the governed" and "will of the people" and that terrorist acts against civilians will affect our "rulers". They will not.
Such acts only provide further rationalizations for elite predations. Terrorists must know that nuking the west is not in their interest. Elites also must know that a false flag operation, nuking the west is in the interests of their profit by conflict ventures.
The entire war of terror is just a giant make work program (jobs) so far as western belligerents are concerned and a profit center for elites. Don't get your hopes up that Iraq and Afghanistan wind-downs are contributors to peace. Command / control structures are in place and resources are being freed up for the next prey.

We are more optimistic. We think the Internet is making these sorts of operations a good deal more difficult, for now anyway. As the manipulation is perceived, passive or active approbation diminishes. The meme is punctured, the promotion deflates. More on this tomorrow.

George Soros, a brilliant strategist and survivor of the cruel reality of the world forecasts the use of carbon credits to stimulate world progress. Poker players kibitz and the house earns its consistent percentage. i.e. the fix is in.
Being offspring of the kalt krieg; we thoroughly understand the implications of Nuclear Chemical and Biological Warfare. When Bill Gates was being fried over his Microsoft; he indicated the government should be focused on WMD's. i.e. get out of his business and focus on nazionale security. Mobster like mentalities or crafty business people plot to win fat insurance policy payouts in the event of terrorist attacks.
They hedge against destruction of property and business losses. Why even ghost policies of death insurance may exist to pay off in the event of the loss of human capital.
It is like how in the old days when wars and the deu ex machina of destruction operated; bond investments were purchased underwritten on both sides no matter who the victor was going to be. Plans for the aftermath of war were predetermined and acted out.
Industries and world order Fathers set about reconstructing world order. The world is a delicate planet. Even a 6 degree of temperature climb would turn the planet inhospitable to all of earths humanity flora and fauna. Geological changes would be catastrophic.
The master minds of DAVOS meeting are working to turn the world into a more peaceful world of unity and common sense management. Terror is a control mechanism universal to every citizen of earth. The deconstruction of a country is an art and science to exploit a situation. i.e. create a situation so as to take unfair profitable advantage. Make lemonade from lemons. How would Gold Finger feel if one day he woke up to a new world of technology where alchemy made profound realistic advancement?
Gold is a valuable specie. Carbon credits will be used to reset the world from old faulty world energy production to new fine tuned energy technology. Energy, a world freed from the shackles of energy slavery will lead to the safety and stability of an ailing planet.
A new dawn of illumination could salvage the world from toxic relationships. All the wealth and power in the world means nothing when all are under the totalitarian threat of a sickly doomed planet devoid of ozone and the stratosphere. Nothing could save the ultra rich if power mad maniacs blew up the world.
Perhaps those lucky enough to hitch a ride to the next Eden out in the stars will survive. It is said there are no winners in war. There are only survivors. One does not have to necessarily look into their own crazy eight ball to learn just how dangerous and delicate life is. All of our lives can turn at any moment.
Saboteurs and blackmailers may still continue to threaten all aspects of life in all countries of the world not just exclusively pin pointed to the implosion and sabotage of Amerika. Folks know the destruction of the American dollar will only render the national debt to a pittance.
I believe America cannot be beaten. It can suffer but it will not be beaten. America is a beacon of light if she is kept on the right track. The Davos meetings of smart people is a hope and action applied. In the hope that greater minds will prevail; I believe the world can rise from the ashes of destruction much like Berlin or the torching of Washington D.C. in 1812.
Arnold Schwarzenegger said;"From everything bad comes something goodt." He is a war baby who knew the fear of kidnapping by the communists. Hopefully man can escape the memes and find a better way to fix the problems of the world.
We are but trusted and loyal servants. Half measures have availed us to nothing. Lest We forget. The great War was the war to end all wars. We were told to bring down The Hun on his own turf before he arrives to impale our children on the bayonet.
Same old speech beating us up- a new kill zone set up. Effective? If we could all be singing Silent Night in unison; we might be able to surpass the entrapment of the destruction of life.
Asked; "where is hell?" Sylvia Brown replied;"It is here on earth." Sometimes i think hell is people. In truth there are angelic and devilish people everywhere. Someday some creature may pollute the inner sanctum of Switzerlund, betray their own French countrymen and take out the Eiffel Tower.
The road is long with many tributaries on a planet with a lot of sick people hell bent on sabotage. In one Bond film; Gold Finger- i suspect a cold calculating Dutchman crafted to take out Fort Knox whereby his own stash of gold hidden in South Africa or some place would become more valuable.
"If i had a hundred men like Cluesoe; i could destroy the world... exclaimed The Chief of Police who was having a constant nervous breakdown over the stupidity of The Pink Panther.
Hopefully the intelligence agencies world wide of every sort and police task forces will be under the control of sane men. One government employee once told me;"management likes to pit employees against each other. They like that." i found it an undesirable experience and an unhealthy way of management. Peace Light Love.

It has taken two world wars and a century of subverted education / media to make us socially / institutionally forget liberty and falsely consider that it is "necessary" (Machiavelli) that we defer to the opinions of others = "obey or else" and that we are not "to be treated equally, in terms of rights and responsibilities, by law".
We are now on the same moral plane as the Nazis, where "some are more human than others". Intellectually, we are collective dunces, courtesy of sabotaged education.
Fix this firmly in your mind. We live in an action precedes consequence reality. Nothing is REAL until it manifests as a measurable force / thing in physical reality. All else (such as the nascent meme in this article) IS speculation.
If you must waste your time dealing in speculation, ask these questions:
a) Are the input facts correct, incomplete or fabricated?
b) Does the relationship between the facts and predicted consequences make any sense (plausible action / consequence sequence, according to reality) (eg; Even if Iran has nukes, would they be so foolish as to initiate a nuclear war - and be annihilated?)
c) Cui Bono and how (exact action / consequence sequence) is profit made?In other words,
THINK about the information:
http://www.cli.gs/IntelligentChoice
Only by using knowledge and reality can you filter the near infinite amount of information bullshit down to manageable proportions and have a chance to get a clue.
At its essence, we are in a war against intelligence (by mystics, believing they can forcefully define reality) and have been for some time, perhaps a century, ever since mass electronic media.
The knowledge that reality is an action precedes consequence (with consistent rules) relationship is the insight that allowed our far wiser ancestors to take down their religious mystics who were enforcing the dark ages.
And, of course, if you want your natural freedom (nobody can stop you from doing anything physically possible, they can only respond after the fact), you must personally CHOOSE (and accept the consequences) to be free. Nobody else can give you freedom, it is already yours, incapable of being given or taken.
Darwin warned us: Survival EQUALS ability to adapt to environment EQUALS ability to choose correctly EQUALS freedom:
http://www.cli.gs/DarwinReconsidered
All of the speculation, perceptual manipulation, terror is intended to shut down your mind, to make you assume that fiction is fact, to control your choice. It is basic Environmental Control 101. The truth will set you free...

When we discuss NBC (nuclear, biological, chemical) issues we should never dismiss this very simple weapon of mass destruction that has been used many times with great effect. Germans in WWI, Iraq on the Iranians and Kurds and in the subways in Japan.
This is the weapon of choice that I feel the terrorists would select for large scale attack on our soil. No government needs to be involved and there is no limit to what can be carried in a simple backpack or car or truck or plane. This is the threat we should concern ourselves with and we should give this serious consideration.
Reply from The Daily Bell
Yet these same terrorists have trouble blowing up underwear. Not to say an attack could not take place - only that the whole, endless cycle of warnings resembles a promotion more than an earnest effort at prevention. And the best prevention likely would be ending the overseas wars on terror creating more and more furious young people every day.
