The Horror of the Connecticut Shooting and the Tragedy of Unresolved Massacres
These are the innocents of America's Dunblane — each smiling face a heartbreaking plea for the nation to give up its guns. President Barack Obama has declared he will use "whatever power" he has to prevent shootings like Friday's rampage by Adam Lanza happening again. In a powerful speech last night at an evening vigil in Newtown, Connecticut, he suggested he is considering a radical move to ditch America's historic right to bear arms in the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre. Obama said: "Are we really prepared to say that we're powerless in the face of such carnage, that the politics are too hard? "Are we prepared to say that such violence visited on our children year after year after year is somehow the price of our freedom?" – UK Sun
Dominant Social Theme: Precious children are horrifyingly dead. So let the right to carry arms in the US expire as well.
Free-Market Analysis: It is almost impossible to write about the horrible shooting in Sandy Hook because of the age of the little ones who were shot. One wants to weep looking at so many innocent faces of now-dead children.
But what if the narrative is a false one? What if there is more to the story than what we've been told?
The shooting in Columbine, Colorado so many years ago marked the seeming beginning of a new kind of massacre. And massacres there have been since Columbine.
But when one looks at the Columbine massacre, one finds surprisingly that questions still linger.
Just query Columbine and "massacre questions" or "Columbine mystery" ... or some such.
You'll find lists of statements by eyewitnesses swearing there were more shooters than the two young men who were finally killed.
You will find statements that law enforcement officers were at the scene and acting in odd ways that actually ended up enhancing the mayhem. And why are the bodies of the shooters still on display on the Internet? Who makes these decisions?
There are even videos of the shooters killing themselves but like the mutilated body of Osama bin Laden, these appear to be fake. One is apparently an independent movie that was made about the killing. But people are confused into believing that a film is actual footage.
The intensity of the kinds of massacres has increased. And cries to regulate guns in the US have gone up commensurately. Here's some more from the article excerpted above:
The President has come under pressure to bring in strict gun control laws after Lanza murdered 20 children and six staff at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
Obama said: "No laws can eliminate evil from the world — but that can't be an excuse for inaction.
"Surely we can do better than this. If there is even one step we can take then we have an obligation to try.
"In the coming weeks I will use whatever power this office holds in an effort to prevent more tragedies like this."
His emotional speech set up a battle with the pro-gun lobby in the nation as he prepared to fight for new laws.
The President added: "This is our first job — caring for our children. That's how as a society we will be judged.
"Are we really doing enough to keep our children safe from harm?
"If we are honest with ourselves the answer is 'No, we are not doing enough'. And we will have to change." ...
Horrified anti-gun campaigners said America's citizens MUST now abandon their centuries-old right to bear arms in the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre.
They begged President Obama to bring in strict gun control laws immediately to stop maniacs like Lanza having such easy access to weapons.
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg was scathing about Obama's pledge for "meaningful action" on gun control.
He said: "Calling for meaningful action is not enough. We need immediate action. We've heard rhetoric before."
The killers are always almost all the same: Young white men who are pleasant but bland loners. In this case the shooter is said to have had obvious emotional problems.
The idea of some is that such crazies should be stopped via gun control. If they cannot get guns they cannot hurt people with them.
Of course, in Britain where guns are virtually banned there has been a subsequent increase in knife crime and battery. And in China there have been reports of numerous horrifying knife attacks on children in schools. People will hurt each other if they are motivated to do so.
But these massacres are something else. Who picks up a rifle and shoots little children? And why?
And why are there always questions lingering after "official" investigations?
Like 9/11 itself, we would urge that the authorities or other interested parties reopen the Columbine investigation to answer lingering questions about that tragedy. There are literally hundreds of individuals who registered their conviction as eyewitnesses that more than two shooters – youngsters – were involved.
The debate in the US is usually constrained. The rhetoric quickly resolves itself into a debate over gun control.
Conclusion: But maybe people are asking the wrong questions and coming to the wrong conclusions ....

Feeling disarmed? Some telling quotes :
"History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subjected peoples to carry arms have prepared their own fall." Adolf Hitler, Edict of 18 March 1939
"We can't be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans... " Bill Clinton, USA Today, 11 March 1993, pg. 2a
"Our task of creating a Socialist America can only succeed when those who would resist us have been totally disarmed." Sarah Brady, Chairman, Handgun Control Inc.Source: The National Educator, January 1994, Pg.3
"This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!" Adolph Hitler, 15 April 1935, in address to the Reichstag
"Gun Registration is not enough." Attorney General Janet Reno, 10 Dec 1993
"Waiting periods are only a step. Registration is only a step. The prohibition of private firearms is the goal." Attorney General Janet Reno
"And we should -- then every community in the country could then start doing major weapon sweeps and then destroying the weapons, not selling them." Bill Clinton, President, sworn defender of the U.S. Constitution
"Guns are used for self-defense somewhere between 800,000 and 3.6 million times per year ... . Using firearm crime and defensive gun use figures most favorable to advocates for stricter gun control, ... the benefits from defensive gun uses exceed the cost of violent firearm crimes ... by between $90 million and $3.5 billion. Using the most credible estimate for defensive gun uses, the benefits range from $1 billion to $38 billion. Putting these dollar figures in more human terms: Guns save lives. The fact is that the best defense against violence is an armed response. For example, women faced with assault are 2.5 times less likely to suffer serious injury if they defend themselves with a gun rather than responding with other weapons or by offering no resistance. ... [P]ersons defending themselves with guns during an assault are injured only 12 percent of the time, compared to 25 percent for those using other weapons, 27 percent for those offering no resistance and nearly 26 percent of those who flee. ... [F]irearms are the safest, most effective way to protect oneself against criminal activity -- which is why American police officers carry guns rather than going unarmed or merely carrying knives."
H.Sterling Burnett
"The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum."
Noam Chomsky
"Gun control has not worked in D.C. The only people who have guns are criminals. We have the strictest gun laws in the nation and one of the highest murder rates. It's quicker to pull your Smith and Wesson than to dial 911 if you're being robbed." Lt Lowell Duckett
"Murder rates in "gun controlled" areas, such as Mexico and South Africa, are more than twice as high as those in the United States. Conversely, countries such as Switzerland, New Zealand, and Israel, which have household gun ownership rates comparable to those in the United States, have much lower rates of crime and violence." Markus T. Funk
"Let Mr. Madison tell me when did liberty ever exist when the sword and the purse were given up from the people? Unless a miracle shall interpose, no nation ever did, nor ever can retain its liberty after the loss of the sword and the purse." Patrick Henry
"Only a large-scale popular movement toward decentralization and self-help can arrest the present tendency toward statism... A really efficient totalitarian state would be one in which the all-powerful executive of political bosses and their army of managers control a population of slaves who do not have to be coerced, because they love their servitude. To make them love it is the task assigned, in present-day totalitarian states, to ministries of propaganda, newspaper editors and schoolteachers." Aldous Huxley
"A society that will trade a little liberty for a little order will lose both, and deserve neither." Thomas Jefferson

Just a note to Solatt55...
Indeed guns alone can not protect people from "the powers that be". The only protection the people can offer themselves is to refuse to be stupid thus stupified by these obvious mind games put into place to control everyone and sold to the public in big media shock campaigns as this one.
The obvious "meme" to end the 2nd amendment is proof that the fact that people are armed rather annoys those who would like to consolidate their power into absolute indisputable power by virtue of being the only armed party... the armed ruling party.
Human beings are a clever animal taught to be stupid by a society, media and controlled education system which works together to not only dumb people down (plus spiking food and water with such toxic stupifiers such as fluoride and keeping devastating practices such as using mercury in fillings and vaccines legal when it has been known since the early part of the 20th century how damaging such things really are), but to glorify stupidity as the happy go lucky norm!
Indeed if there are individuals going mad in our society, guns are not causing this madness. Some how the media can not see that simple fact. So why do people go mad in the first place? Are we so sure this really happens all by it's self? Are there any open channels to research the detailed histories of such people to find out what my have caused them to so deeply lose it? Frankly if this were the case, it may result in uncovering rather other more sinister causes such as the very mind control techniques the CIA imported from Nazi Germany after WWII... perhaps not every time, but as indeed many of these "lone crazies" have a rather similar thread to them, the likelyhood that something else is rotten in the state of Danmark is rather high.
What is certain is that guns do not cause such things, even if that is the tool that is used. The causes of mental imbalances however, are what our society needs to look into. Doubtlessly in some cases this may appear on it's own, but even more doubtlessly there are "interests" which will stop at nothing and thus use everything and anything they have available to push an agenda such as disarming a people! The only reason a super powerful central government would push such an agenda is stated very clearly by the governments of the past who have done so. In every case genocide occurred.
In short guns are just a tool... but the real weapon is the human mind. It's time to use this weapon to defend our liberty (human liberty) and seek a more open and honest human justice not only in america, but world wide!

Obama forgets (rather not look in the face) how many children and un armed jews (6 million) by Hitler, orthodox christions by Lennen and Statlin (50 million), and chinese by Mao (200 million) were killed by armed governments in the 20th Century...
in the case that these "lone mad men" have been drugged and hypnotized to do the acts to effect a helpless population into effect... the likely out come of carnage seeing what many governments have done to their own people (the above mentioned being the 3 biggies, but do not stand alone) : the old chess move, provide the problem to effect the solution is loud and clear.
It might be better to ban TV... which is also a weapon in the hands of propaganda kings like B.O.. The fact that sex is taboo but violence is pretty much the staple mark of a majority of programmation might hint as to who is using what weapon how!
Please note that there is already a ban on people becoming president of the USA who are not really born there... the joke being that there is not American President because the power that be do no longer want the constitutional model America stands for... they made sure the Freedom party got far enough that a visible defeat could be seen and want you to know that Freedom is finished.
Let this puppet plastic fantastic fake birth certificated bozo dictate from above the laws... go anywhere in the world and kill "enemy suspects" with no trial : and get people to cheer this. Of course Hitler got people to cheer him too... a rather big slice of one of Europe's most developed cultures of that time supported him because of this same sort of baby kissing propaganda... and indeed Hitler was very pro "anti civilian gun"... ss was Stalin and Mao.
The action required to protect our children is to get rid of elitist puppets and the elite who will kill anything and anybody which threatens their claim to wealth and power. Among steps every one needs to take is to disfavorise big name industrial products as much as possible (much of industrialized food is designed so that it has a long shelf life : so let it sit on the shelf!), starting with food & drink, in favor of local products produced by real farmers with real food rather than chemicals, ddt and bleached sugar, flower and salt which have zero nutritional value. Indeed in the case that these lone gunmen are really what the media will say they are...
is it not even more possible that the cause of their unstable minds have to do with the owned and controlled food for profit corporations and the FDA which is supported by those corporations (yes that is what I said : the big food corporations have power over the FDA, not the other way around) should be brought into question?
If people are going crazy... look to why. Not the tools they use.

The simple answer is to give up your right to own a gun and therefore protect yourself. It happened here in the UK and now we are all multicultural docile sheep, the culture is screwed and there is no way of protecting ourselves against the criminals, we are the government and we are here to protect you.
Give up your guns, if you dare.

By common definitions, terms that refer to the anal sphincter are considered vulgar and disrespectful remarks about deities and their activities are considered profane. You have a right to say or write them and I have allowed you to exercise that right on my blog. I was just warning others that might be more sensitive than me to such language.
I was a police officer and I have served in the U.S. Army. I know how to swear in 5 different languages. Nothing is new under the sun to me...

"Conclusion: But maybe people are asking the wrong questions and coming to the wrong conclusions ... ."
What was once the purview of liberty and morality has now shifted into the hands of the state. First came the gun control act of 1968. Then the "School Zone Gun Safety" legislation which finally passed in 1995. Schools are left completely defenseless by govt. decree.
The repudiation of the 2nd ammendment angle is a red herring - gun sales are escalating. This is about accepting the placement of body scanners in public buildings as a compromise. All for our protection of course. This will help engender further submission of young minds to the state. God help us.

@Wrusser
I'm not going to dispute your conspiracy theories (and let me be VERY CLEAR - I do not use that term in a diminutive way - conspiracies are very real things and every thing you say could very well be true) but I would say that all of this seems to be happening in spite of your precious guns so if we can save some children from getting shot in the face we might as well, right? Your guns don't seem to be protecting us from the tyranny of the "powers that be" - they're winning by a mile. I wish I knew what to do about it but I think we've gone past the tipping point. I've seen the disclaimer that this site does not advocate violence but at this point, what other option is there? Protests? I don't think so.

I agree there are issues with law enforcement going off their own nuts - it's certainly a problem - and yes, I am also wary of "official stories" and the MSM. I'm sure there are more similarities in our general philosophies than differences - guns and gun control are just areas where we differ.

QUESTION: If guns were confiscated and laws were passed prohibiting gun ownership, would humanity be safe from gun violence?
ANSWER: Ask Mexico where gun ownership is prohibited. Oh wait . . .how could 60,000 people have died down there from gun violence in the last six years if was illegal to own guns? Did criminals somehow get their hands on guns in Mexico?
Did you know the King of England tried to confiscate the colonists' firearms?
Did you know criminals hate lighted areas at night, dogs, and an armed citizenry?
Did you know criminal psychopaths now control Washington and Wall Street? Remember Silverstein's comment, 'Let's pull it (WTC 7) while dust from the Twin Towers' demolition still floated above the city?

You remember anything on this scale happening in the 1940's? 50s? 60's? 70's? 80's?
Me either. The faux wars and 'terrorist attacks' and shootings began in the 90's and started gaining momentum over the last decade; the shootings were caused by a parade of creeps, we're told, through Oz's MSN propaganda outlets.
What we're smelling is the putrid stench of psychopathic evil run amok around the planet with all the money, arms, armies; with no heart, soul, or conscience; all for The Plan; which is to accumulate earth's resources and human control under the money master's watchful eye; Goyim all to be thinned. worked, bred, and discarded like so much chattel if they succeed.

A firearm is an inactive object, we need to stop blaming firearms for the action of a few & ask why those few feel compelled to act in such a manner.
The fact is we all carry some of the blame, including out of control Governments who are increasingly invasive & intrusive while trying to mandate human behavior from on high.
While some people are naturally loners, some are alienated, whether by word, action or deed, how we treat each other, family, loved ones, friends, neighbors, work colleges or strangers in the street all have a bearing on the mental health of an individual, some have life skills, coping mechanism & support of loved ones to air their grievances & troubles, some do not.
But it's much easier to blame firearms & the 2nd Amendment isn't it.
So, lets NOT address any of these underlying issues & instead focus on Firearms the "soft target", because anyone can verbally attack a firearms owner & feel morally self righteous.

I wrestle with what the role of government should be in our society - I understand it's far from perfect and, in many instances, downright evil. But I'm no anarchist. I think we need a government that actually does what it's supposed to do - represent the people.
It's not supposed to be Us vs. the Government, the government is supposed to be "Us". There are some ways it's doing that and many ways it isn't, but I think gun control is one of the ways it could represent the will of the people and I think people are getting tired of a minority just walking around with the capability of killing dozens of people at the drop of a hat - it's ridiculous.
I'm not saying "no guns" I'm just saying we need a little common sense to prevail and common sense says that not just anybody should be allowed to walk around with these things.
Reply from The Daily Bell
You seem like a sincere person. But government force via gun confiscation is surely not the answer. Go online and view all the videos of police authorities tasering children and old people, or beating up peaceful protestors. Pychopathic loonies have no corner on violence. These days, those with badges seem as driven toward mayhem as those they are sworn to "protect."
And then there is the legitimate issue having to do with the reality of these shootings and how they are being accomplished. This shooting like many others again raises the question as to whether the authorities are getting all the facts and presenting them properly. If the authorities are not to be trusted to tell those they "protect and serve" the truth about these horrible shootings, how are they then to be be empowered to confiscate weaponry?
Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Posted by Hope on 12/18/12 09:08 AM
I think if you ask any adult, who survived the Sandy Hook massacre, they would probably say, they felt powerless and wish they had been able to stop the shooter. If we can't keep insane killers away from our children, and we can't), we have to retain the right to defend ourself. Our constitutional right to bear arms is there for this very reason. Apparently, our forefathers were smarter than we are.

@The Daily Bell
Wow, that was a reach - what is it with you people and your specious "slippery slope" arguments.
There is a HUGE difference between knives and guns. Knives have a thousand other purposes besides stabbing people. Guns have one, maybe two uses: killing people and target practice (AKA practicing killing people).
I suppose you think allowing gay marriage is the same as allowing people and animals to get married too, right?
Reply from The Daily Bell
Here's the thing, Solott55:
You believe in government solutions, we don't. You think marriage (gay or not) is a sacrament best administered by the state. We don't. You think government ought to confiscate guns. We don't. For you, it is eminently sensible. Government ought to do this, but ought not to do that.
In fact, government is "force." Once you sanction activist government as "reasonable" you are in no position to deny the ramifications of your acquiesence. Your position inevitably leads to what we have today ... rampant taxation and inflation, unemployment, endless wars, all sorts of civil authoritarianism and even more to come.
One could even argue that those who hold your views support the eventual break-down of civil society. In other words, your belief in government rationality and "a little force" brings us ever closer to the time when government acts in an entirely irrational way and murders some 150 million in cold blood as it did during the 20th century.
Posted by solott55 on 12/18/12 08:15 AM
@The Daily Bell
Yeah, I'd say I'd rather be stabbed than shot - with a hollow-point bullet especially.
If I was in a classroom of people and I had to choose between someone with bad intentions and a knife bursting in or someone with a Bushmaster - would DEFINITELY prefer the knife in that instance.
Reply from The Daily Bell
OK, so you would rather be stabbed than shot. But ideally you'd like to ban knives too. And since people can then resort to clubs and fists, presumably you'd like the government to ban them as well. Perhaps local municipalities can launch "give back your wood" days where people can turn in their deadly 2X4s for cash or prizes ...

"The medical examiner asserts that all wounds were caused by a rifle or other long weapon, and police/FBI say that the school was littered with .223 (rifle) casings. But Adam Lanza was found dead in the school with only handguns - a rifle was found in the trunk of his car. But then he could not possibly have been firing the rifle, and could not have committed the murders."

There, so far, is no credible evidence that Adam Lanza actually fired any weapons. He may have been a patsy like Lee Harvey Oswald that was brought along in a drugged stupor. The Power Elites are not nice people.

No mention by the mainly smearjob media that this guy, as well as most of the previous nutcakes should have been locked up except for the liberal laws on mental health.
And how come we haven't read about any massacres at a gun show? Surely you can't tell me that that hasn't happened or doesn't happen regularly - according to the prevailing Chicken Little koolaide being purveyed night and day on the omnipresent BigScreenHiDefPlasma TV screen in any public space in the western hemisphere.
