UK Telegraph Columnist Calls for More Gov. Surveillance
In defence of Big Brother: I want more snooping, not less ... Dan Hodges is a Blairite cuckoo in the Miliband nest. He has worked for the Labour Party, the GMB trade union and managed numerous independent political campaigns. He writes about Labour with tribal loyalty and without reservation ... We want an Even Bigger Brother, please I want to live in a surveillance state. Big Brother, come cast your watchful eye over me and mine. I love you, bro. Seriously, when I saw the outcry over Government plans to gain access to telephone, email and internet, my initial reaction was: "You mean they can't do that already?" I assumed, somewhat stupidly, that everything we said, typed or viewed was routinely monitored, and then filtered by some giant, super-secret computer tucked away in a heavily guarded subterranean basement of GCHQ: "Hodges has just said he wants to shoot another Liverpool player, sir." "Oh, he's always saying that, Jones. Ignore him." – UK Telegraph/Hodges
Dominant Social Theme: The world needs security in a dangerous age. Where have you gone, Tony Blair?
Free-Market Analysis: Every now and then the UK Telegraph – which is surely the most free-market oriented of major British newspapers – posts a really wacky article. It's probably because the Telegraph is traditionally royalist, as well, and these trends are at war with each other.
This article by Dan Hodges is one of the strangest we've read recently, but from our point of view as elite meme-watchers it is certainly noteworthy. First, it repeats the various justifications for government snooping in the form almost of a parody. And second, Hodges is virtually assaulted in about 600 feedbacks.
The feedback comments themselves are interesting to read because they tend to bear out our contention that many educated folks both in the US and Britain really "get it" when it comes to the advent and prosecution of the expanding surveillance state. If the comments are any indication, they don't like it at all. Here are some excerpts at random:
Rose_Hempton/Today 03:42 AM ... The Labour Party is a Frankfurt School, Marxist, totalitarian front. I will not submit to or obey your psycho-political "rules" since they are utterly corrupt and unlawful. I would remind Mr Hodges that governance in this country is by the consent of the people. Where is our consent in these totalitarian diktats? The EUSSR is alive and well. The only law is God's law and English common law. Wake up everyone and take back your rights and freedoms before these psychopathic one-world Marxists get rid of you and your children. Alfred's Law,The Bill of Rights, our Constitutional rights and the Magna Carta are THE LAW and guaeantee our rights and freedom. Go to hell Mr Hodges along with your war criminal, Satanic political hero - Tony B- LIAR
Axl Bollinger/Today 12:17 AM ... Eventually all democracies ... fall and a small group of senior Government members will rule the world through force, brainwashing, mass killing, scaremongering (like false wars between countries, carefully planned by both Governments) and the dangling of carrots to a select few civil servants. Eventually machines will keep the few at the top in a life of bliss and laziness, and most of the people on Earth will be gone. Only a few genetically modified and brainwashed workers/vegetables will remain. Every time the Governments want a new harem or wife, they will simply have them grown in a laboratory. The above is exactly what will happen if people listen to Cameron, Clegg, Miliband, Blair, Brown, and journalists like Dan Hodges. The assumption of goodness and benevolence from an increasingly powerful state by a poorly educated and gullible public will lead to 1984 every time. For those who laugh at the above in disbelief, look up Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Franco, Salazar, Mao, Mugabe (take your pick) and read books like Animal Farm and 1984.
Roger Brown/Yesterday 09:55 PM ... For years East Germany broadcast the advantages of their 'clean society' their propaganda would slag of the West saying there was no prostitution, no crime in East Germany and there wasn't (compared to the decadent West) how could there be? Every third person in the state was working for the Stasi, who in your own family who would fit that profile? This is what happens when the State, Secret Police and security agencies take over full control. ... Obama has signed into law the NDAA on the 31st of December 2011 when the US was partying. In effect it abolishes Habeas Corpus it allows the President to have anyone anywhere in the world detained for life without evidence it applies to all US citizens wherever they are. The US government have still not published the bill ... Obama said it will never be used against ordinary citizens. Can he be trusted? Obama in the last few weeks has signed the NAT DEFENSE RESOURCES PREPAREDNESS (NDRP). The President now has the authority to take over all resources in USA. Any federal agent can go onto any place i.e. a farm or anywhere and requisition the farm's fuel, supplies, food anything! Everything and everybody's possessions now belong to the state whenever they want them! What happens in the US happens here - you have been warned!
These three responses present the tenor of many others. That they are published in a major UK newspaper is a comment on the unusual times in which we live. The last comment, above, shows us once more that British media is alerting readers not just to what's happening in Britain but in the US as well.
Of course, the article is "over the top" – a kind of parody, and Hodges surely knows it and intends it. (It's not dated April 1, however, so it can' be an April Fool's joke.) The importance of the article to us as elite meme watchers is the virulence of the responses. This cross-section of British respondents is well aware of the direction in which Britain is heading.
This brings up the larger point we make regularly about what we call the Internet Reformation. Like the Gutenberg Press before it, the 'Net has woken up many to the Way the World Really Works. And these individuals are often the more perceptive, verbal and successful in society. They have a disproportionate impact.
Yes, there is a power elite that wants to run the world and is apparently close to doing so. But we often ask how that goal will be truly achieved in the midst of so much exposure of basic goals.
The elites operated in secret throughout the 20th century, but the 21st century has not been kind to them. They are fighting back, of course, attempting to move ahead with world-spanning plans by introducing chaos, economic depression and perhaps world war.
But for us the question remains. How do you implement world government – or a facsimile thereof – when one of your main weapons was stealth and misinformation?
The elites have used fear-based promotions – dominant social themes – to pursue their goal by frightening people into accepting globalist facilities. But more and more these memes are ineffective.
The power elite has turned to brutality and regulatory fascism in the past few years in our view. They have also taken to launching transparent false-flag events to reaffirm their authoritarian memes. Perhaps it is no coincidence that Hodges closes his article as follows:
I don't want less surveillance, I want more of the stuff ... Unfortunately, it looks at the moment that the Government is backing off ... That's a mistake. For now the civil liberty lobby is in full cry. But one day their clamour will be drowned out by the sound of sirens heading towards the scene of a new terrorist outrage. Those had better be some damn important emails we're all keeping under wraps.
This is always the fallback of authoritarianism – that only government can provide for people's security. But in the 21st century it seems that governments, at the behest of the shadowy elites that run them, are increasingly manufacturing civil unrest and even terrorist incidents.
Conclusion: The Telegraph feedback seems to show that such manipulations are increasingly subject to skepticism, as is elite control generally. This is a problem that is likely not going to go away. The Internet is a process not an episode.

P.S. AMERICA, PARTICULARLY THE MEN, ENGLAND HAS BEEN MARXIST(ANTI-CHRIST) IN BELIEF ALL OF THE 1900's! THE ONLY PURPOSE OF THE ENGLISH MUSIC INVASION FROM ENGLAND IN THE 60's WAS TO MAKE U.S. INTO "MARXIST'S" THROUGH OUR WOMEN! REMEMBER THE STORY OF EVE 6,000 YEARS AGO? IT'S CALLED "INTELLECTUALIZING" AND OUR MORE VERBALLY ENDOWD WOMEN ARE MASTERS OF IT? NO? Thank you again DB. I refuse to waste money buying these news rags nowadays, you highlight a very important and fundamental theme within the Telegraphs readership. Long gone are the days when people blindly accepted what this paper, and others said. Our political class are, since Blair, increasingly seen as the tools of The City, Conservative just does not exist now, it is a name, nothing more.
I know people in their eighties who are questioning everything, the social fabric is unravelling, the middle class know they are being robbed blind. They see former terrorists strutting in government, they see a militarised police openly killing innocent news vendors and others. Millions see the wars for what they really are.
Where will this all end? When a student debt bubble emerges, the generation of folk with useless and meaningless degrees who cannot find work. When they do they are the most taxed people on earth. I seem to remember reading 40% of English land is still in the hands of families granted it by William the Bastard.
Whatever, the mix of this cocktail is explosive. Thats without mentioning the hatred for the EUSSR. Particularly Germany. These islands house the most violent people on earth, will they tolerate more government control? Only time will tell.

Just what the world needs, STASI Redux. As if no one remembers East Germany's economic success that led the world. (sarcasm, for the uninformed.)

I doubt the Island peoples will let a Greek like
austerity to go by without major civil riots.
We are not there yet, its only a matter of time.
People are seeing who the real terroists are.

There are two ways of looking at the internet and telephone surveilnace
The first choice for me is to mobilise the people to throw out any politician that supports it, right to your MP, to Cameron etc and tell them that they are going to guarntee their being never ever voted for again: In other words, use the democratic process in any way we can.
One can also join the number of organisations who are increasingly putting pressure on the authorities and learning how to bring maximum leverage to their ability to show the politicians up: ie Avazz, 38deg, Lawful Rebellion, British Constitutional Group.
The other is to find out what GCHQ monitors, the key words, and then flood all your emails, correspondence, phone calls etc with those words! Overload the system, and make it rubbish to monitor. But to do this we need as many people as possible to do it. So I see what could be done and what Hodges is maybe saying.
For me however, the most important thing, is to do something, don't sit on the fence, let the elite know that we know what they are up to and that we are prepared to stand up and be creative in heading off their rediculous idea of a NWO.
There is for me, with my beliefs, also another dimension, that of the spiritual warfare being waged too.
In this way, the elite are extremely vulnerable. We know from practice that the power of love is immense, hidden yes, but those of us who co-operate with that power, know it to be many hundered times more powerful than fear.
This is the most vulnerable area of the elite of which they are really terrified.
There is no defense against love, as well, the techinque of recognising that we are all one, means that if you are phychically attacked by them, you just merge with them as much as possible, then the attack is on themselves and they stop.
One of the reasons why there is so much encouragement of atheism etc is because they know how powerful a spiritual persons love vibration is, if you can reduce that power by getting lots of people to believe they don't have it, they can't use it.
But as we know, the number of people joining the ranks of the spiritual grows exponentially by the day. That is what the elite really fear.
A person who knows that there is survival after death, that knows the processes of life and what is really happening here in Maya, is a formidable warrior who is not afraid to die or stand for their beliefs. This is what is winning the unseen battle.
And they are terrified of us.
All good men and woment on the planet can easily turn the tide and we are doing so.
It is fantastic that your organisation works to keep peoples' minds free from the lies and falsehooed that the elite try to promogulate, the fear they try to induce just doesn't work when people are informed. Couple this with a strong connection to the spirit/angelic/other worlds and they are really a pathetic bunch to be pitied. fancy gaining the illusionary world but to loose your spiritual inheritance!
So many great films are pointing the way: The Matrix etc etc.
Easter is a great time to recognise the futility of the elite's strategies.

Fear and intimidation work very well,,, up to a point. Everyone is afraid of negative things in the future. If you take away their future, you take away their fears. They have nothing to lose. 1 out of 4 households in London have no wage earner. A high percentage is minorities.

I have to keep reminding myself, 'This is still an illusion, isn't it?'

And with that, may i once again raise a toast to Mirthful Irreverence Everywhere.

Saying that you only get a crackpot article in the Telegraph every now and then is being a bit kind isnt it? Con Coughlin writes one every week.

Having digested todays "few responses", to a great report saddens me. You
respondents are awake to the socialist Hydra, that is devouring the life's blood of Freedom loving mankind of this Earth. Yes, Christians have hope for
the end times, because of their Faith. But there is a time of shaking and
sifting going on. Tribulation will be a test for every individual.
It has started and will increase with great speed & ferocity. Spiritual devils in
the guise of human charismatic saviours, leading the masses to perdition
because of fear. Most of the world are not Christian, and have never been free.
Most of our younger generations have never known (hard times) and are
non-beliving of the warnings we are broadcasting, they are complacent because they don't want to believe. The proverbial head in the sand. They
will not act until the noose is around their necks.
As stated, I am sad that less than 30 responses to this excellent report of the ELITES plans of annihilation and control of EARTHS CREATURES. Time is short.
Please alert your family members & friends of the dangers imposed by our govt leaders, and the global titans of finance. Help them secure contingences.

So let me get this straight, because a relatively small but vocal minority complains about an article, this means that people as a whole are pissed and fed up? What a joke. Those who see through the lies (less than 1%) use web commenting as a hobby. Those who comment are the outcasts and in no way represent a cross section of anything. If they did, people would not continue falling for the BS on the TV and playing along. The truth is, Mencken was right. People don't want freedom, they want to be taken care of, told they are safe, kept fed and housed. Freedom is just a big pain in the ass and not worth the trouble for the masses. It is scary and unpredictable.
The internet is not making the difference you claim. People are repeating the lies amd talking about them, so what? Nobody is *doing* anything about them. The only people acting are the elites, the police, the military. One need only look at Nazi Germany or Communist Russia to see that people are more than willing to go along with any atrocities you command them to.
This "people are waking up" nonsense is just another elite meme as I see it. If they were waking up, they would be acting. The only people who have considered acting are the ones without food and entertainment.

I hope that little troll-like rant has you feeling better about your powerless to stop what is happening self, spiritsplice. We feel your pain.
Posted by amanfromMars on 04/09/12 04:10 AM
Amen, and thanks for sharing and identifying all of that, Tommytucker1945, which is all just so nearly perfectly true for more that just a few. [Nearly perfectly true is a valuable caveat to self-impose on oneself on anything one would consider as perfectly true as a safeguard against falling into an arrogant, and therefore also ignorant complacency and delusional, omnipotent state of mind which is always trumped and defeated by the humble raw silent roar of the humbling and overwhelming omniscient, the supplier of all faiths worthy of beliefs which can be realised and ardently supported and tendered]
And there are more than just a few, in those who are more than just a few and perfectly comfortably in agreeing with all of the above, who also advise of an elevated morph of the statement ... .. A person who knows that there is survival after death, that knows the processes of life and what is really happening here in Maya, is a formidable warrior who is not afraid to die or stand for their beliefs. ... ... . to reflect as perfectly as mere words can convey, a certain immaculate available state of novel grace which delivers ... .. A person who knows that there is survival after death, that knows the processes of life and what can really be happening everywhere for Gaia in Maya, is a formidable virtual warrior who can never ever really die and is never afraid to stand up for and defend fervent true beliefs.
Methinks the elite know that something is going on which they do not, and cannot control for their own exclusive purposes of an inequitable and selfish, self-serving continuity of overall power control, and even though one could state that they have been advised of that which they are missing to realise their NWO dreams, in that which you have so beautifully and selflessly shared, Tommytucker1945, is their continued ignorance in the matter, that which defeats them ever more securely and certainly in these changed and changing days of zerodays to trade and exploit with fundamental weaknesses and human vulnerabilities.
And on one wondering why they would not simply buy in and/or outsource that which they would be in dire straits need of feeding and seeding to succeed, does on stumble and struggle to get past the thought and probably undeniable reality, that they just do not have the necessary intelligence within their current circles.

How cute that you found the time to attempt to demean, of course you could do nothing else but employ wishful thinking in your attack. Instead of pretending to disagree and hiding your own discontent behind a wall of self righteous pseudo-spiritualism, you could have just admitted you agree with what I said, though the truth may hurt.
Posted by amanfromMars on 04/09/12 10:19 AM

Why are people so willing to argue for their own enslavement? Has the Combine of regulatory democracy mowed down the last vestiges of self determination? Are we as people really ready to give up and admit that a few of the world's elites know how to run our lives better than we do?
These questions may be difficult for some people to comprehend because the conditioning to control us is so gradual it just seems normal. It seems normal to see a government commercial asking you to spy on your fellow citizens…if you see something, say something right? It seems normal to get groped at the airport, it seems normal to torture people to get information to prevent an attack, it seems normal to incarcerate 6 million people, it seems normal to have your phone calls tapped and your emails read. Even the Patriot Act seems normal to some. After all, we need to be safe.
I can hear the conditioned responses already; I have nothing to hide, why does it matter. You can still express your opinion in the open, a Neanderthal can still bullhorn a politician, and we can still vote for whom we want. I'd invite you to consider these things are only constructs that give you the illusion of freedom.
Real freedom is renting a scooter in Thailand without a five page contract to sign, buying fireworks in China and setting them off in the middle of the street, drinking a beer on the beach in Rio, smoking a joint in Vondelpark, paying $1.50 for a delicious meal from a street vendor in Nepal who doesn't have a health permit, driving a car in Malaysia at a speed limit my best judgment says is safe, without my seat belt. Some might argue, these safety protocols are necessary in a complex society to keep order, and I would refer them to the immortal words of George Carlin, 'take a chance you f*king p*ssy'. I personally would rather be subject to inconveniences of too much freedom, than the consequences of not enough.
The truth is we are so bogged down by fear and regulation real freedom isn't even recognized anymore-since when did life become so precious and security so sweet that we are willing to purchase it at the price of government usurpation of our best judgment?

Hi cmcaples,
I enjoyed what you wrote, and the subject of "rule followers" is a good one, but what if people were to be presented with a new set of rules, they may just follow the new rules, no questions asked, right? It's the 17% early adopters that are the trend setters . . . the other 83% follow automatically?
Hang tough, cmstaples, we'll eventually get through to the 1.19 bilion early adopters . . . once they see the effects of the F-bomb.
