Time Magazine Predicts Many Cars to be Unaffordable by 2025
Why Millions Won't Be Able to Afford Cars in the Future ... By 2025, the government will require an average fuel economy of 54.5 m.p.g. for cars and trucks sold in the U.S. To meet that requirement, automakers must focus on more efficient, technologically sophisticated cars that cost more upfront to build — and whose costs are ultimately passed along to consumers. How much more will these cars cost? And how many Americans will be priced out of owning a car as a result? These subjects are up for debate, and there's no shortage of projections. – Time magazine
Dominant Social Theme: If cars are unaffordable, at least they won't be polluting.
Free-Market Analysis: We've been tracking the Western war on cars and this article in Time magazine raises the offensive a notch. The idea is that by making cars electric, you limit range and utility.
But this article suggests that cars simply will be legislated out of existence for many. Its argument is surprising as well because it treats government legislation as a force of nature, as if merely a fact of life and not an artificially created environment.
This would seem to be a promotion of sorts. The power elite has been growing more strident about regulatory control as what we call the Internet Reformation has made an ever-larger impact on its secretive domination.
By using dominant social themes, the powers-that-be frighten middle classes into giving up power and control to global facilities like the UN, IMF and World Bank. But the Internet itself has revealed many of these strategies and compromised them.
The elites have struck back by creating additional chaos, in our view – war, economic difficulties and, of course, evermore Draconian regulation. This prediction about cars fits the latter confrontational approach.
The elites need a "green" economy for purposes of increased control. The ability to tax people for breathing (basically) is part of the apparatus of authoritarianism of the top elites, those dynastic banking families that want one-world government.
They seek control over every part of people's lives, and controlling transportation is no doubt part of the program, a big part. Travel is something to be restricted and then doled out to favored individuals. Here's some more from the article:
Last summer, when officials were discussing the possibility of raising fuel-economy standards as high as 62 m.p.g., studies were released (by automaker interests) projecting that the price of a new car would cost nearly $10,000 more by 2025, after adjusting for inflation. Recently, USA Today, the Detroit News and others have cited data released by the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA), but they're reporting a wide range of forecasts as to how much new-car prices are expected to increase.
USA Today — and the New York Post and other outlets — give NADA data stating that car prices will be boosted by $2,937 in order to meet 2025 mileage requirements, and that the cheapest new car would cost about $15,700. (The Nissan Versa sedan, which gets 36 m.p.g. on the highway with a manual transmission, holds the current title of Cheapest Car Sold in the U.S., with a starting price of $10,990.) Such a price increase would make a new car unaffordable for 4.2 million low-income Americans — college students, working families — who would no longer qualify for financing.
The NADA-commissioned study offers a range of price increases, though. In a worst-case scenario, new-car prices could be hiked by as much as $12,349, which would result in 14.9 million households not being able to afford a car.
The dollar amounts are only part of the story. It's fairly clear that the US in particular – but other Western countries, too – are gradually restricting internal and international travel. The phony "war on terror" narrative provides the putative causation.
Over at the Alex Jones's sites today, an article entitled "Your Car Set To Become Part of ‘The Internet of Things’" tells us that a bill "already passed by the Senate and set to be ratified by the House not only mandates black box tracking devices in all new cars, it also orders the deployment of ‘vehicle to infrastructure’ communication systems."
The report explains this bureaucratic language means that "your vehicle will become part of ‘the Internet of things’ and will be open to constant real-time tracking, eavesdropping and surveillance." Senate Bill 1813, entitled ‘Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act’ (MAP-21), may be passed by the Republican-controlled House despite its Draconian implications.

But there is no doubt that transportation is a big target for the elites. The combination of low-range electric cars and high environmental taxes are twin pincers squeezing people's ability to move around. A static population presumably is more easily cowed and controlled than one that is not.
We can see, via this maneuvering, just how patient and far-sighted the top elites really are. The conservation – "green" – message was put into play back in the 1960s, even earlier in the US when President Theodore Roosevelt first created national parks.
The cult of the green meme has by now reached stupendous proportions but as the curtain comes down on the West with all its dankness and misery, the connivance begins to reveal itself. It was never about protecting the environment, or not in its more extreme applications. It was about preparing to control movement.
We don't think this future is feasible. The Internet Reformation is moving too quickly. As the elites react to the masses' growing understanding of their increasing manipulation, the regulatory, military and economic maneuvering grows more desperate and more outlandish.
Conclusion: And this further radicalizes those who are inclined to see already how absurd Western culture is becoming. This in turn creates feedback that further enlightens people. This is a problem for the elites, for finally their actions turn counterproductive to their unifying goals. We may be reaching that point.

Ha, there's more: "Big Government on Steroids: Senate Bill Calls for Black Box Recorders on All New Cars (... ) The same Senate bill, 1813, known as MAP-21, that calls for the Secretary of State to revoke or deny a passport to any US citizen that the IRS Commissioner deems as having 'seriously delinquent tax debt', also calls for, in section 31406 of the bill. the mandatory installation of 'black box' event recorders to be installed in every new passenger vehicle starting with model year 2015"

They will fail to reach any of their goals: 54mpg, green cars, mass transit; it will all die a well-earned financial death.
A) We are broke and will remain broke for years to come,
B) other countries will continue to manufacture cars that are efficient and reasonable in costs.
Unless the eliets turn us into Cuba they will not get their way. The Internet has taken the bloom off the rose.

A search for "Transportational Oriented Development" (TOD) should help bring the future into focus. High density housing around transportation hubs is already in the works. TSA will most likely be monitoring the stations. Hard work low pay jobs will be the norm for this new living style that replaces home ownership as a way to keep people from migrating about the country.

TWIMC,
I've been reading your articles for several months now, and share (in general) the same Libertain perspective, so I frankly find it a bit ODD that the patents and products acheiving fuel efficiency numbers in excess of 55mpg (shelved now, for several decades) aren't even MENTIONED, in this otherwise informitive article?
Furthermore, for every increase of one mpg in US vehicular "fuel efficiency," there is a significant DECREASE in Big Oil's bottom line profitabilty (and the US FED/State governments, tax receipts) by a VERY LARGE amount of revenue!
It's obvious enough (to me) that the stagnation and sabotage of our mpg improvements to date, are entirely BY DESIGN... From not offering PRACTICAL electric cars, and ONLY backing ethanol (i.e. no solution) to the planned recent reintroduction of trucks, SUVs, etc., into the US marketplace, greatly DECREASING overall US+ fuel INEFFICIENCY! (Then the INCREASE of oil prices, at any cost, including WAR... )
So is the Elite's "agenda" moreover to REMOVE the vast majority of passenger vehicles, from the road? Or is this more RHETORIC... that merely pays "lip service" to attaining (seemingly) unrealistic "efficiency" goals, while the vested interests (from finance, to the war machine) keep their game, in play?
Either the "Elites" CONTROL "Big Oil," and their coopted industries? Or they DO NOT?? The PETROL history in the US, Canada, etc. would suggest that "the environment," supply, consumption, etc. are NOT a serious concern, to those who regulate, control and profit from the Petrochemical Industry, at large.

I am mystified that you think gas mileage efficiency is a problem. I happen to have a 94 Hyundai that gets 56/mpg. It is a cheap car, although if I were to sell it, I might ask extra for that great mileage. So if Hyundai can do it, without the pricey coal-fed electricity element, it may be a challenge that other car mfgrs can meet... Ya think????
On another odd anomaly in the news, gasoline has NOT gone up!!!! (Act surprised!!!!) In 1949 gasoline was about 19 or 20 cents a gallon(I was there!), and you could get 5 gallons for a silver dollar... if you will look at the spot for silver now, you will see that you can now get between 6 and 7 gallons for a silver dollar...
I will let you figure out for yourself why folks think the price has gone up, you are very bright, and when you figure that one out, I promise you, a lot of other things will fall into place, and that paper in your wallet is something you will be a lot more anxious to spend on something of real value.

Interesting exposition!
Retired, I live on a golf course and am accustomed to electric vehicles in view by the dozens everyday... .golf carts that hold two and bags where two more can sit! I know there are whole communities in Florida that allow them on their streets as transport locally. (all that the senior citizen really needs!).
Further, when we were posted to The Netherlands in the mid 1980's, we were issued a car with two tanks... one for petrol and one for LPG (Liquid Propane Gas) which doubled the area we could reach with one fill up... We could go to Midi in France and back on a weekend just by switching to the other tank!
I have been amused by all the posturing from American automakers regarding the electric car, and gas fired cars. Good Lord, anyone with any acquaintance with Europe since WWI knows that there are dozens of alternatives to propel autos, from coal, wood, HP, and all kinds of gasses, alcohol and peroleum.
The problem is that Washington has an enormous bureaucracy that has dictated that no one can fiddle with an engine and use that innovation on the nation's highways. This has made the American auto a dinosaur while other nations do better! Worse, it has made any attempt to improve our vehicles hostage to universities who command the labs that test any new ideas but at horrific cost since Washington's agencies never get their hands dirty with auto dirt! Like the FDA, it dictates what will be acceptable and that is not business directed but it is politically driven to enhance government power, ability to extort!
It is obvious that the American public has been dumbed down to accept this nonsense from our government, its breaucrats. You keep saying it is an "elite" sparking this but you keep tagging the wrong one! It is the wild eyed socialists, so called environmentalists who are our problem, not the business communty!

There are some pretty decent electric cars in Europe. One way that they cut cost is to add a transmission to a car rather than running very high voltage.
The GM EV1 ran up to 7,000 rpm. This takes high voltage and a very expensive motor. By adding a transmission, low voltage can do the job.
There are other things in the works but,,, if I tell you,,,, then I have to
kill you :)

Cars are going to be built using bio-composite chassis and body. We will be needing to build lots of these. Transportation will become a major contributor to our ability to sink carbon in construction materials and fuels. You will never see well thought trough systems like this because your main reason for living is to transport power over your own life to elites. What you need to do are to take control over technology for zero footprint living and change the monetary system to serve instead of letting it dominate you. 90% of us follow authority by impulse 10% do not. 90% who study sociology do it out of lust for dominating you. Next point on the agenda is the reason for so many stories about us not having trustworthy leaders. If you want peace a clean environment you will have to choose to insulate you buildings and replace fossil fuels with renewable energy. Do not believe government who clearly do not value you once you do not transfer power to the elite. Never forget that the elite's always have been killing you. Now they are talking about culling. How does it feel to be cattle? If you can not find someone who can use you up you are turned into trash to be abused.
I have been talking to TATA they are Zoroastrian. Thousands of years they have been building cloaked influence. They are like the rest bent on hording fiat money on the expense of a clean world. Zoroastrian's have cleanliness as a major symbol today it is used in deceit. The world is waiting for the human's to claim freedom from tyranny. Who will you listen to the sound of life or the spiral of death that you are currently in?
